Dear Parents,

Kindergarten has been very busy learning new things, making new friends and adjusting to life at Holy Name of Mary School.I will continue to assess your child this week so I can better understand the needs of each individual.Every week I will update you on what is occurring in each subject area as well as important dates and events that are coming up.

Please remember that my door is always open and I will always make time to discuss your child or any concerns you may have.I am at school every morning at 7:30 a.m. until approximately 4:00 p.m.

Religion

The children will identify that the 5 senses are a gift from God.They will also describe our five senses while learning about God’s world.

Math

The class will identify objects that are similar and different.They will name, recognize and count using concrete objects.The children will also be working on forming shapes and patterns.

Phonics

The students will recognize upper and lower case letters and their sounds.The students will identify picture names that begin with letters.

Reading

The class will read “Now I’m Big”.The children will develop oral language (listening & responding).They will learn about the words big and little.

Social Studies

The children will be learning about families.They will identify individuals such as parents, grandparents and siblings.We will also identify ways in which people are alike and different.Kindergarten is in need of old magazines to help us in identifying how people are alike and different.Any donations would be appreciated.

Science

The class will recognize that a plant needs air, water, light, and soil to survive.They will understand how plant parts help the plant get what it needs to grow.

September 12Mass (dress uniform)
September 12 First homework package goes home.Please return by September 19.

September 17Back-To-School Night @ 7:00p.m.

Dismissal @12:30 p.m.
