Music as God’s gift to us adds beauty and enjoyment to our lives. Musical talent and ability coupled with the desire to learn and willingness to practice is a gift from God. When that gift is developed, students may experience a lifetime of musical enjoyment, perhaps even a ministry for the Lord.

Hello! I would like to introduce myself, my name is Mrs. Avelar and I am the new Music Teacher. I am excited to work with your children this year and hope they will have fun and appreciate music.

Supplies needed in Grades 3rd-8th

Pencils with erasers (NO PENS)
Recorder

Recorders

All students in Grades 3-8 are required to have a recorder
Recorders can be purchased at school for $3.75 (Cash or make check payable to Holy Name of Mary)
Students will be given practice sheets to practice at home and prepare for recorder tests.
Tests involve the student's performance of a particular song during class time the day of a test.

Expectations
All students are expected to be on their best behavior during music class. Disciplinary action will be taken if the students do not take warnings seriously. All students need to have their supplies at every music class.

All assigned homework needs to be completed and turned in at next music class. Students DO receive a grade in music on both progress reports and report cards.
