- Family Reading Night 5-7:00 p.m. library- Taking the time to sit with your child to read every day is one of the most effective ways you can help your child become a successful student.

- Our students will sing in the choir, be greeters, altar servers, and lectors at the 10:00 a.m. Mass. Please have your children wear their school uniforms. We are so proud of our school!

- Dividends for Life: In Our Community
- We will have outdoor morning assembly today. Mayor Cutis Morris and Councilman Emmet Badar will address the students.
- 11:00 assembly- Join us for a wild adventure with John Abram’s ANIMAL MAGIC SHOW!
Tues., Feb. 2

- Feast of the Presentation of the Lord
- It’s Cozy Comfy Pajama Day. Students will play board games with their buddies at 11:30 followed by an ice cream social.
- 12:30 dismissal (no lunch will be served)
- Open House 7:00-8:30 p.m.- Everyone is invited! Be sure to visit the Art Fair, The Science Fair and the Book Fair. 4th grade mission projects will be on display under the Sr. of St. Louis Pavilion
Wed., Feb 3
- Dividends for Life: In Our Nation and In Our Faculty and Staff
- today we honor our teachers who devote their careers to teaching students and infusing them with the faith, knowledge, morals, and discipline that are the hallmarks of Catholic education. The work they do today is an investment in the future of our church and communities. We recognize and thank the staff, who contributes so much to our school’s day to day operations.
- †Mass (students are invited to donate $1 to the American Red Cross and wear red, white, and blue today.
- 2:30 Rosary Prayer Service - please come early and pray with us.
Thurs. Feb. 4
- Dress to Express Day – students may dress as professionals to see what the future might feel like. Adult volunteers will visit the classes to talk about their jobs.
- Student assemblies with Fr. Martin: Pre-K- 2gr. 9:45; gr. 3-5 10:30; gr. 6-8 11:00
Fri., Feb. 5
- Special Persons Day
- 8:00 Welcome Reception /morning assembly
- 8:30 a.m. Mass
- 9:30 a.m. Students will perform for our guests in our Field of Angels. Bring your own chairs please.
- 10:15 a.m. Recess fun with our special persons
- 10:30 a.m. Visit the classrooms
- 11:30 a.m. Lunch and games sponsored by the 7th grade. (Lunch must be pre-ordered).
- 12:15 p.m. Return to the classrooms to prepare for dismissal
- 12:30 p.m. Dismissal (Please, please, please do not leave with the children prior to the 12:30 dismissal. It is very unsettling for us to look for the children who have left before dismissal, without telling anyone).

- SPECIAL PERSON’S DAY PICNIC LUNCH – The last day to order your lunch is Monday February 1st.
- INTENT TO RETURN FORMS– due by Thurs., Feb 4th.
- FALL ENROLLMENT – We are currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year and are scheduling appointments for Pre-K and Kindergarten testing. If you have a student of Pre-K or Kindergarten age, please stop by the office for an application.
- THE CATHOLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION TUITION AWARDS PROGRAM 2010-2011 – provides partial tuition assistance to qualifying students. For an application, please contact Mrs. Kuzmickas. Applications are due to Mrs. Kuzmickas on or before March 2.
- OUTSIDE ASSEMBLY – Please join us for outside morning assembly on Mon, Wed & Fri., Feb. 1st, 3rd & 5th.
HNM SHINES in Bishop Amat Math Competition Sat., Jan. 23, 2010
First Place Overall went to Holy Name of Mary School.
Individual awards went to Gr. 6 Jaimie Romero 2nd place; Gr. 7 Gabriel Marquez-1st place & Kelley Ray-3rd place; Gr. 8 Damien Balla-1st place. Damien Balla also won first place overall.
Other members of our math team are: Katie Birgen, Rena Rodriquez, Dascha Mathis, Paul Hannah, Alexis Garcia, Bailey Vena, Robert Bartelt, Luc DeLuca. Maya Gonzales, Raquel Dimaano, Dominic Copas, Molly Birgen, Joey Quinones, Matthew Zahn, and Nicholas Rodriguez. We are so proud of all our kids!
SAFEGUARDING THE CHILDREN- HNM School is committed to safeguarding our children. Anyone coming to volunteer at our school, or driving children to and from field trips or sporting events, must be fingerprinted and Virtus trained according to the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Be sure to return the livescan form and Virtus certificate to Mrs. Kuzmickas.
