VEGAS BABY!
Dear HNM Families,

I cannot wait until Casino Night! This is our only event just for adults and it is so enjoyable to see our school parents having fun together. We are getting down to the wire and I ask you to WHOLE-HEARTEDLY SUPPORT THIS MAJOR FUNDRAISER for our school. Please, if you can donate an item to the auction or obtain a program ad, it would be so helpful to us. Remember your support of our events is the absolute best way to keep tuition costs under control. Equally important to the success of our school and children is your physical participation. Your gifts of time and energy are very much appreciated and needed. Thank you to Gary Schwary and ALL of the team who have worked so hard to put this event together. I hope to see you all at Casino Night and thank you for what you do to make this event successful. If you have any questions about this wonderful evening, please feel free to call me at the school, ext. 226 or Gary at 909-816-1141.

With heartfelt thanks,
Candice Kuzmickas

GOSPEL SUMMARY

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time  Year C
October 24, 2010
Read Sunday’s Gospel, Luke 18:9-14.

Gospel Summary
From time to time our children live in a “me first world,” but Jesus was not too impressed with the self-centeredness of the Pharisee in today’s Gospel. The Pharisee was quite certain that he was a good and righteous man–better than most. For sure, he was better than the tax collector. But as Jesus often did in his teachings, he turned society’s ideas upside down. It was really the humble tax collector recognizing his own sinfulness that Jesus said would be exalted.

Reflection for Parents
We are very important in the lives of our children, but do we allow them to see us walk humbly with God? Do we allow them to see us on our knees and hear us admit our weaknesses to God? Consider how you might represent the tax collector to your children. How might they see you like this Pharisee?
